With this year been the 25th anniversary/birthday of Children Of The Gods US/Canada premiere, I thought we could do a little event to celebrate it and the minimums are low for both fic and art. I’ll be adding a subcollection to AO3 for this challenge.
Challenge: Create something that incorporates any member of the various SG teams reflecting on their first time going through the gate, hearing about the existence of the Stargate program, or reminiscing about something that happened off world or on Earth.
• No sign up is required
• All of the shows, ships, and teams can be used, so can crossovers between any of the shows.
• The minimum word count is 750 words with no maximum.
• The minimums for art are any of the options on the list and it is by no means exhaustive are: wallpapers, book covers, banners, social media header/cover, GIF sets, pic spams, 10 icons (minimum), a four track fanmix with a cover and tracklist (optional download), 25 seconds of a fanvid (uploaded to Vimeo/YouTube etc). This isn’t an exhaustive list in anyway and there are lots of other types of art like drawings etc that can also be used for this, basically, if it’s art to you, it can be used.
Creating period is from 28th February 2022 to 24th July 2022
Posting Period is on 25th July

As the deadline for this event is fast approaching, 10 days or so to go, how's everyone getting on? Do you think you'll be finished? I'll add a subcollection to the main collection on AO3 shortly. It's here (if the link goes wonky the parent collection is here.)
This event/challenge and the original big bang from last year will be in amnesty from the 26th of July up until 31st of December. So if you still want to post anything after the deadlines have passed, you have plenty of time.

Hi :) so because I have shit for brains and can't keep to a schedule, I'm going to extend the current amnesty period until the 31st of March. If anyone else still needs to finish their fic and/or art, there's another 8 week to get it done.
2. AO3 collection.
I'll be closing the AO3 collection to new fic and art for the big bang sometime on the 1st of April, if I remember to that is. (I'll set an alert on my phone to do that.)
3. Smaller challenge.
With this year been 25 years since COTG first aired, in the US at least, I was thinking of doing something on a much smaller scale maybe a prompt meme or similar format. I'll do some more thinky and post when I've come up with something.
4. Rewatches and discussion.
Everyone has posting access and if you want to do rewatch parties or discussions of any kind, Gate related of course, then go ahead. Just let me know what tags to add if you need them.

2. Today is the first day of the posting period and it runs to the 31st of October. Basically it's going to be a post whenever you are ready rather than choosing a specific day as this should give everyone time to finish their fics and art.
3. If anyone needs a reminder of it: the AO3 collection is here and can be added from the posting page by searching OpenTheIris. It is currently set to moderated and I'll approve as things are posted.
4. Access has been reset to everybody so hopefully, when you're ready, you should be able to post directly to the community too. (Tell me if it doesn't work.)

We still have two summaries for artists to claim details. I know I still owe a couple of emails and replies to comments, I have been derailed by working a lot of extra hours and not giving myself a break recently, thankfully I'll be on some much needed time off from tomorrow afternoon to get all of those done.

1b. Writers who were undecided about art at sign ups have until next Friday to let me know if they would like art or not.
1c. Artists, we have three, so there may be more than one fic to create something for. I think have a little availability to do some art too if needed.
Claims/Matching:
2. The post with summaries for art will go up late Sunday 15th or sometime on Monday 16th. I can do this part anonymously or keep names on, let me know which is better for you.
2a. Artists - choose what you would like to make art for.
2b. I'll email writers and artists when claims/matches are made.
Beta/Cheerleader
4. Does anyone need me to make a "I need a beta" post at all?

StargateNow_EU are hosting a one episode per day rewatch and discussion and it covers all of the canons with the aim of finishing in time for the SG1's 25th aniversary next summer. Details with the hashtags they want to see on posts.

Random Hello and Checking on you!
Friday, May 28th, 2021 10:04goddess47It's a holiday weekend in the US so I thought I'd see how everyone was doing. On anything... life, work, fic, your Stargate fic...
How far ahead of a deadline do you normally work? For me, for a fic due in September, I'm currently planning on working on it in July and August... to be honest, I don't even have much of an idea for a plot at the moment. So the next couple of weeks are going to be spent hoping for a germ of an idea or a scene that I can work with.
At this point, just checking to see how everyone is and if you need anything! Stop by and say hello!
