It's a holiday weekend in the US so I thought I'd see how everyone was doing. On anything... life, work, fic, your Stargate fic...

How far ahead of a deadline do you normally work? For me, for a fic due in September, I'm currently planning on working on it in July and August... to be honest, I don't even have much of an idea for a plot at the moment. So the next couple of weeks are going to be spent hoping for a germ of an idea or a scene that I can work with.

At this point, just checking to see how everyone is and if you need anything! Stop by and say hello!

Fic is due in early September.

This is the official schedule.

Writers sign ups open - 12th of March
Writers sign ups close - 11th of April

Artist sign ups open - 11th of June
Artist sign ups close - 11th of July

Posting starts - 3rd of September
Posting ends - 31st of October

Amnesty starts - 1st of November
Amnesty ends - 1st of January

I'm guessing there will be an in-between date somewhere for artists to pick stories to illustrate...

Artist sign ups are due to go live around the 11th of June and the matching or whatever will likely start towards the end of those or once artist are numbers are finalised, depending on how many want to do art for this.

Mostly canon review and outlining still. I have ssrconfidential to do before I get cracking with a rough draft, I dropped unconventionalcourtship because that fic was being stubborn.

I've got family visiting until Friday so I'm pretty much going all over on day trips this week. Giving myself a wee break before I start picking up shifts at my new job and relief shifts at my old job.

I didn't sign up for unconventionalcourtship because I have some other things on my plate and figured if things cleared up, I could sign up at the last minute... but I'll be passing on that this year...

I have an AU planned - a mcshep fusion based on an obscure sci-fi B movie. I have part of the outline done and need to complete that in June.

Helllooooo! September is do-able, I think, but original fic writing is taking the front seat right now. I have a deadline in August to have Book 2 published so that is foremost on my mind. That said, I did finished chapter 3 of my SG-1 fic last week so I have a good start going. The rest has been outlined, so let's hope I can get 'er done on time!

This has not been a great month for writing for me, not helped by a bad reaction to the first COVID jab. I'm just over 19K through my (very rough) first draft.

Just to confirm, do we have to have 75% of the story/3700 words done for 11th June? And also, which is the more important milestone to get to, given I'm 19K in and probably not at the 75% mark yet. (Hopefully not too far away, though, unless the story gets away from me again.)

Artist sign ups just start June 11 and run to July 11... so there won't be any interaction with artists until at least July. And even then, a good start or an extended summary should be sufficient at that time... so you're in great shape for where you are already! Go, you!

75% done isn't something I can guarantee, but I'm definitely past 3700 words! (Outlines are for the weak! The weak who know what their stories are doing. And how they will end. The sensible weak.)

I have words and I'm also doing some very targeted canon rewatching that I'm almost done with. Technically I'm at the 75% limit but that's only until I start really drilling down and cutting at until I'm at where I want to truly be but I have hope.

I have one or two things I'm working on. 1000 Words for Summer (organized by author Jami Attenberg) starts tomorrow and I'm going to use that to generate some energy around this project.

Quick clarification, looking back at the admin post, you said multiple stories were allowed. Does that mean I could have a main story and associated stories adding up to the total or the main story being the goal with associated stories?

Yay for having words already! That is a good thing! And writing a fic is a great excuse for a re-watch! We just re-watched the original Stargate movie and that was such fun to do!

And I'm also working on other things, which always helps with the writing mojo.

And your multiple stories should be fine... as long as you're posting them at the same time, you could post them as a series rather than as chapters in a story. That should work!
